Chapter One in Dublin, Republic of Ireland

Chapter One in Dublin, Republic of Ireland -  April 2013

It's Easter break and I passed all my first semester exam so my boyfriend decided to reward me with a good dinner! :) Decided to eat the pre-theatre (6pm-7.45pm) instead of dinner because the price difference is huge and there aren't much difference in the menu.

Sign board outside the restaurant
The restaurant is just right beside Dublin Writers Museum. Get the pun?

Starters:

Cured Clare island organic salmon with compressed apple, pickled Atlantic seaweeds, smoked pear puree and mandarin dressing
This has to the best starter of all time. I strongly recommend this dish.

Burnt onion broth with Jersualem artichoke veloute, salt baked celeriac and broccoli rabe
My boyfriend totally loved this starter.

Entrees:

Pork cheeks pot roasted with apple sugar, wild garlic puree and clams, potato dumplings and pickled thistle

Braised rib of Irish Hereford beef with buttermilk potato and fried cabbage, sauce bordelaise
Both the entrees was so-so. But I must say the buttermilk potato on the 2nd entree is amazing. I just can't get enough of it.

Desserts:

Irish yoghurt panna cotta with blood oranges, bitter chocolate crumb and blood orange meringue

Warm chocolate mousse with lemon jelly and praline mouse, vanilla ice cream, confit orange and spiced bread biscuit
The desserts were good. For the panna cotta to taste good, you have to eat it all together (the chocolate, orange and the panna cotta). The mixture of all blends so well together. Same goes for the chocolate mousse! :)

Boyfriend! :)

I didn't get to take any photos of the surroundings again because I just felt too embarrassed. But the place looks so gorgeous. It's a underground restaurant, so phone service is pretty bad. But that's just minor. There are a lot of waiters serving and many tables around. I manage to catch a glimpse of the dinner people. The difference is that, they personally serve you the bread and are more friendly as they chat more to you. Well, that's all I could compare because I had to go at 7.45pm (No, they did not chase us out. I just felt it is my responsibility to leave promptly). Overall, I really really loved the salmon appetizer. I'll definitely come back here and try their other food one day. :P

That's one out of four Michelin restaurants in Dublin! :)
